Just wondered what the consensus was with folks purchasing habits, I`m finding more and more stuff on ebay these days cheaper than some online stores. Used to be the other way round !!
Depends, bought an iPhone case for three quid that would have been twenty in the shops, from China.
Cycling stuff and anything of quality is still selling for good money.
In general though, i go with Asterix, many things are dearer on ebay, or certainly not cheaper.
Shop around, LBS included. I once got an ahead to quill adapter cheaper from my LBS than off ebay. Also seen stuff cheaper in online stores than on ebay. Theres no overall winner/loser...you just have to do the homework with each one.
I've used them and recommended them on this site. Not a massive amount of stock but if they've got what you want it'll be cheap and you'll get it quick!
I've just seen a used book on sale with bidding currently at £40. A diligent search of the Internet would have turned up a source of new copies at £5.95 inc postage.
Just had an idea......
I can't complain. I kitted out a bike with a drive train, brakes and handle bars at bargain prices of Ebay and have sold some vintage aeromodelling stuff whose investment returns match the Zimbabwean inflation rate.
I recently bought a 1953 Brooks saddle for £3, shame the postage put the price up to £8 though!
Bought other bits and pieces for my restoration project too, most reasonable priced and hard to buy elsewhere.
I thought the Apollo bike at around £10.50, which thought was a bargain, some people won't though.
But the 10-15 year old back tyre burst the other day!
