I have a bad habit. I unconsciously sing refrains over and over again and it annoys people. Its the same on the bike. I always have a wee bit of a tune going on and on in my head. Is there any way that I can get out of the habit? Any ideas?

Agadoo!- that is a serious complaint. The only cure is to take a trip to the Mull Of Kintyre and find a girl that will cure your ackey breaky heart.

I'm too sexy to give any other tips.

Radiolab (it's a pop science podcast) did an episode on this once, it was good. I'm not sure how to get a link to it though, I just subscribe on iTunes.

There's a particular road that I always sing Sherry Darling on.

Just reading a similar thing in this morning's Torygraph - be adventurous if you're going to inflict your bad habit on the public ...

On reading that I thought it was about to say that the pub landlord Paid him to stop!

Seriously though, my Mum hums tunes quite a lot. At least, they are tunes in her head because what comes out is quite the most tuneless thing you have ever heard.

My Dad has complained for YEARS about it!

Combined with her short legs, you can hear her coming a mile off!

'Hmmmm DOFF DOFF DOFF DOFF DOFF hmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmm DOFF DOFF DOFF hmmmmm hmmmm hmmmm hmmmmm DOFF DOFF DOFF DOFF hmmmm....' and so on.

My best mate hums as she's going up stairs, and it's the most tuneless humming you've ever heard. She doesn't know she's doing it until someone points it out, and then she says she wasn't thinking of a song or even a tune, so no wonder it's a horrible tuneless racket.
