Some of you may recognise this frame from ebay, or another forum, either way I am the new owner.

It is in a pretty sorry state and will need new paint, but as I already have a 1978 Dave Lloyd which I completely restored a little while ago, there is little point in repeating that exercise.

It is very light, even with the seatpost and headset still in place (the other 'stuck' bits have been removed), and although it has rear spacing if around 120mm, it will easily spring to 126, so could be cold set when I have it sprayed.

So, a question for you all; once resprayed what kind of bike should I build it into?

A general run around with mid 1970's running gear is kind of what I'm thinking, although choice of running gear is open at present, excluding Campag, which is just blummin expensive.

A 'general run around' sounds good using either 'North Road' or these handlebars,
Bicycle-Handlebar-Light-Sport-Strap-Ergotec-Toulouse-Alu.jpg
Ergotec 'Toulouse'.

Then stick a new single ring 'Stronglight' crank on and a 'period' 5spd rear mech so you end up with something similar to this (my latest project rebuild)

DSCN0038.JPG

I nearly stuck a rear derailleur on this (using a 'universal hanger' but stayed with the SA 3spd hub) and had the wheels handbuilt, converting to 700c from 26"x1 3/8" (fractionally bigger) but it's easy to go the other way from 27" to 700c (fractionally smaller)

I don't know about colour Shaun, at first I thought maybe stick with black and gold lug lining, now I am considering dark blue.

I have a Suntour VX rear mech in my watch box, so many thanks for the other names... except Gian Roberts..... that would be an insult to the frame as it is, let alone repainted.

That's not quite my thing Raleighnut, but it does give me some ideas.

Nice colour and nice seatpost cluster, nearly as nice as my 653 timetrial bike,

That's a nice colour on the top tube

Thanks, it's the fade to white that I like most but the metallic blue in combination looks really nice,

That's a lovely looking bike, after my time but designed for an individual to beat the clock and himself..... one if the reasons I loved time trialling

My first real Woodrup was originally finished in kingfisher metallic which was sooo nice

I had it copper plated lol

I bought the frame several years ago 2nd hand and built it up myself, it had the Campagnolo headset and seatpost on it then so I built it up with mainly Centaur transmission and originally I'd put Aero extensions on it (hence the shifters and the Minoura light bar) but couldn't get on with it so moved the shifters to the bullhorns which meant the brake levers I'd fitted had to be swapped. The ones on it now are 'interupter' levers fitted backwards with the cable nipples in the adjusters so I could still run the cabling under the bartape.
At a guess the frame was built late 80s-early 90s but no-one can tell who by (No frame number or makers decal anywhere) rides lovely though, extremely stable despite the ultra short wheelbase.
Oh and the wheels are Roval Classique Pave.
