Early morining drivers

I seem to meet more dangerous urban drivers on quiet, early mornings. When the roads are almost empty, I always try to stay alert.
This morning's example was outrageous. I was riding up the main student cycle route, across the traffic-light-controlled ring road . I waited at my red light and when the advanced cycle green came on, suddenly 3 cars waiting on the ring road, drove across their red, right across my right of way.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I actually take a lumpier route home as part of my route is a long uphill drag for a couple of miles on twisty unlit road that people bomb along at 60-70 mph so i would rather go a different way to avoid being rear ended by a dozy driver coming home from night shift.

I assume in the morning people are rushing to work, slightly late after having a few extra minutes lie in etc, grumpily looking at the day ahead, whereas there seems to be a bit less of a rush in the evening?

Should the 'amble gambler' be renamed the 'follow through-er' as they follow the car in front through the lights now amber/red and it's sh1t driving?

There is no such thing as "right of way", and believing so will get you dead very quickly.

I see plenty of early-am-empty-road RLJ'ers. I must report 2 or 3 a month to court that I've witnessed doing this while I've been cycling or driving in. Very few contest it, and I've not lost one in court yet. I shall miss it when I've retired!

I dropped Mrs Gti at Preston station just after 06:00 this morning. Quite a few of the citizens of Preston driving too fast in their white Audis and spivved-up Rangies don't seem to think red traffic lights apply to them at that time of day.
