good man Your next task is to do it via Bluetooth.

Amazing how many people don't realize this can be done. I've been doing it since my first GPRS phone in '03 - slower than a dial up modem it was but it worked well for email access.

Why anyone pays for a data dongle when they have a 3g phone I don't understand - just easier I suppose. But I pay a fiver a month for data on my phone.

Did you have to set up a dial up connection to *99# or is there a data sharing option in the gooseberry blackberry?

Just now setup my new android phone to the laptop - online speedtest suggests 4.5mbit - just a couple meg lower than my ADSL - not bad.

Have to admit - I wouldn't know where to start with a Mac.

while i was at it i tethered my nokia as well, so much easier.

of course some contracts do not allow tethering of 3g phones to laptops, just so you have to buy a dongle i suppose.

Wasn't aware of that - I know Vodaphone works ok (for me anyway), O2 used to work for me on GPRS. I heard that you have to pay extra for the IPhone though - sounds like a rip off.
