Impressed by Macbludgeons tales of a double scalp I have been itching to get a double scalp on my commute. It is 18.4 miles, but mostly the busy A20 so no one is stupid enough to ride on it.
So I left my house this morning about 40 minutes earlier as I have had some time off and didnt want to rush things and there were cyclists everywhere!! Riding through the initial urban stretch I past a paper boy (he wasnt delivering as his bag was empty), I then dustedoff an old boy on a hybrid who proceeded to jump a blatant red light and got ahead of me so I overtook him again (in interests of fairness I have only counted that once).
A few minutes later I was following a guy for a few hundred yards and when I got next to him I glanced across and he was wearing a full face ballaclava!! so I accelerated off faster than usual untill I couldnt see him anymore then i felt the burn and took it easy for a few miles. Just as I was coming back into town before i get to work was the best, I overtook a 30 something on a Giant (looked Carbon, was black with yellow writing) road bike! My first actual roadie scalp! ok she was tiny and it was down hill so I had gravity and about 10stone more on my side but still awesome ride in.
I think I must have been leaving too late to have the commuting races everyone else enjoys! Awesome ride in today, cant wait for home time as its 80% downhill!!
