Eating...Egyptian style

A few years ago we were offered a contract to do some work for Holiday Inn in Egypt. I thought it might be worthwhile, as the money was very good and the hours weren't too bad. So said in principle we could be interested.

It was a few days later I spoke to a friend who is a quantity surveyor who I'd known had spent some time in Egypt. His advice was "Good God, you haven't said yes have you? It was the worst 3 months of my life!" And he went on to describe in great detail the deprivations and mental torture he endured.

Needless to say we declined the offer. But in quieter moments I do think about what might of been.

I have a flat in Cairo, so go to Egypt every few months, if you aren't fluent in Arabic you will probably get ripped off left, right and centre.

Without going into gory details...woke up at 2am....straight to the toilet and went another three times this morning. I tried to say to them, very very small meals please, but it goes straight over their heads
I feel ok, but feel like i'm at 90%, not 100%. They gave me some dry tea leaves on a spoon, followed by a glass of water, followed by a strong coffee....a desert remedy apparently. Then i had a Streptoquin ?. Whichever worked, i feel much better now, probably 95% and just a tad gurgly.

Trying to couple our machinery up with theirs has been a challenge...i'm reliant on the fact they understand their electrics and machines....which they dont . Got there in the end, but everything takes an eternity.
Not unike Cyprus actually

Chips for tea tonight  Things can only get better...cant they ?
