Hi, Just been look at a Brompton eBay anybody had dealings with kingfrank7 as this person seems to have a lot of Brompton's for sale?

I'd be very wary. All of the bikes are pictured in different settings. If he has them - you'd expect the background to be the same on at least a few of them ?

I'd not risk it.

I personally wouldn’t buy one at the moment, it’s pretty easy to spend another couple of hundred pounds putting one right. Due to the current boom in cycling and shortage of bikes, the prices are completely bonkers.

Firstly, I'd like to point out I have no affiliation with kingfrank7, I'm of the Crank tribe. Prices in general over on the bay have gone silly of late, but Brommies are truly bonkers. They have far exceeded the Raleigh Chopper nonsense, and that's saying something - best to bide your time and let things get back to normal.

Best get on and sell my wife's virtually unused yellow 6 speed I guess 😎

Now is the time

"King Frank" seems to specialise in selling Bromptons to unfussy buyers in the Far East. Some of his bikes look rough and have declared faults. If he can't fix a SRAM hub, I suspect nor can the buyer - it probably needs an unobtanium spare part.

Buy Bromptons from local small ads or Facebook. They can be 1/3 eBay prices.

I’ve dealt with Mohammed (King Frank) a couple of times when he’s bought bikes from me. He was a top guy to deal with, very pleasant and stuck to the deal we agreed. He was quite open that most of his bikes are sold to Asia (Singapore IIRC) and he was pretty thorough inspecting the condition of both bikes. His prices are quite high but I guess that’s to mitigate some of the risk he takes selling abroad. Just my 2p worth!

Yes, I'm not accusing him of being dishonest, as his bikes seem to be fairly described. They are, however, often a bit rough considering the price.
