OK just wondering here - seen something I need on ebay, which happens to end in 3 days. However, I havent got the money in my paypal at the moment and it takes a good week to transfer from my bank account. Question is, can I still buy the item and the money will come straight out of my bank account - or should I transfer now and just explain my situation to the seller - though I know this is looked not kindly upon on ebay and dont want negative feedback... what do I do?
cheers

Can you not register a credit card with paypal, as I think if you don't have sufficient funds in your account you can use your credit card to fund it instead.

Otherwise I think you'd need to contact the seller and explain you'd need to wait a few days to pay for the item if you won it and ask if it's ok to bid.

I'm not 100% sure though.... hopefully someone else can confirm.

If your paypal account is linked to your bank account, the money will automaticaaly be taken from you account.

You can also do as soulful dog suggests & register a credit card.

I think he may mean that the money is not in the account that he has linked to his paypal account and needs to move it from another account..........?

I think he has the money in his account?...in which case it will come out of the account if linked with PayPal, as rusky mentioned.

EDIT: Scrub that, sorry, just read your post properly.

When you pay by paypal, the money will come straight from your account, whether it's directly, through a debit card, or gets added to your credit card amount so you don't have to worry about transferring it.

At least, thats how mine works.

OK, think I understand.
My Paypal account is linke dto my Halifax savings account.
I currently have no money in my paypal account but enough in the savings account.
So, when if I bid and win, the money will automatically be taken from my savings account to pay the seller, instead of having to wait to transfer it?
Seems odd... cos whats the point in transferring normally if you can just get it automatically done?

I didn't realise it worked like that, thought it was just from your credit card you could make payments this way. However, it makes sense and the only difference will be that you will have paypal fees to pay, whereas if you had the money already transferred into your paypal account, you wouldn't incur any fees.

Is that right Panter?

Im 18 so dont have a credit card yet. Whenever Iv eused ebay in the past Ive transferred x amount from my savings into my paypal account. This takes 10 days so isnt always practical.

Yup. I have a credit card and a bank account linked to my paypal account. I've never had to transfer funds into the account to buy anything. It does give the option of which one to use when paying but will try to get you to use to the bank acc. before the credit card. You pay with PP; PP takes it straight from nominated account.
No fees to pay when buying. PP takes a cut of the price before it goes into sellers PP account. You may find complaints about PP fees with some items for sale and a preference for COD if you can manage it on bulky items to avoid it. This is similar to high street retailers with credit/debit cards taking a % of purchase price.
AFAIK there is a fee if you transfer the money from your PP account back to your bank account.

Sorry, don't want to appear critical, but should you be using a PP account if you don't understand fully how it works? Wouldn't want any financial woes to happen to anyone.

As above, there is a small fee to transfer money from paypal to your bank but its free if the amount >£50.00.

I don't know why there is a facility to transfer money to payapl either, thinking about it it seems a bit of a redundant feature?
