I have just got home to find that my latest ebay bike purchase has been delivered. It was sent in its original bike box, with all the original owner's manuals, and even some chain lube. The sender had wrapped it well in bubble-wrap and it is in exceptional condition. I would say that the seller did not do the bike justice in the sale, as he did not mention the manuals, or the beautiful state of the bike. I paid the full 'Buy It Now' price, so he got what he was hoping for, and I think that I got a great bike for a fair price. Both of us are happy, and it just goes to show that there are still plenty of honest people out there.

Am I lucky to have never had a problem with Ebay?

Very lucky, had a few issues myself but nothing major.
I do know of people being ripped off though... tis always a gamble, buying off ebay.

I haven't done much e-baying but I've not had a problem. Indeed I've saved money on stuff. Most recently I got a 3 way valve for the central heating at less than half the "outside world's" going rate. Everyone a winner on that one

Good news then - some on here have'nt been so fortunate.

I've had a few purchases on ebay - mainly parts / oil / plugs for my car, no probs.

Well! What kind of bike did you get?

I got a Dahon P8 Jetstream, because I need a folder for work. I had ridden a couple of Bromptons that we have at work, and I knew I didn't want one of them. I do not like the way they ride with their tiny wheels and the feeling that the rear wheel is tucked right under my backside. The P8 has 20" wheels and the initial impression is that it rides really well - much better than a Brompton. As a plus point the saddle does not feel as though I am seated on a piece of railway line - those Bromptons are so uncomfortable in that department!

Very nice!

Just had a look at it on Chain Reaction - never seen one before, with suspension, Sram derailers and pant clip(did you get that?). Describes it as the BMW X5 of the folder world.

I've bought and sold through ebay many times and never a problem, also had many bargains.

Bought my last bike off ebay. I collected it and paid cash which reduces the risk on both sides, and have been very pleased with it. Never really had much problem with ebay buying or selling.

Have bought some big ticket items - including a bike from ebay - and have only been seriously ripped off once.
