FWIW I don't think his response was necessary, by which I mean the way he responded, but if nothing else if tells you more about the seller as a person.

Pretty much what I thought. I felt his response was a little common, rude infact, suprising really given one would have thought he would want to encourage people to bid on his item. I was rather taken aback really. Anyhow as you say, there will be others.

Photography enthusiasts will often buy cameras if they find them at a good deal. They may well use them for a while and then decide to sell them on. Even if they have previously owned that camera they may still buy it if it is a good price.

He could well be genuine but I expect his response is a little bit out of sorts.

Of course I have lots of spare to time to trawl millions of ads on Ebay asking stupid questions or do I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket and I am up for buying new camera. True. I've never considered buying things on Ebay or similar second hand sites -never been to a car boot sale either.... how can you insure yourself against things being stolen

I'm with Noodley, Moss and the others. Hard to pass comment without knowing exactly what you've said. You've given a summary sure, but the range of ideas that we can extrapolate from your summary is too wide, and you are just likely to get annoyed at our guesswork when we get it wrong.

For example, I PRESUME that you passed some sort of comment about his photos being too clean/professional, carrying a suggestion that he wasn't a true second hand seller. This is based on his reply about 'using a card on his table', however it's pure guesswork as to what you said, and any error colours my reply.

If you really want people to comment on whether his reply was OTT, we need to see what you wrote - not your summary.
