Eccentric Cat

We have a new kitten, which is a hooligan. I've discovered that the best way of getting my teenage son out of bed at the weekends iis to open his bedroom door and let the kitten inside. Then I go downstairs, make a coffee and wait for him to appear, usually less than five minutes later.

I guess the kitten is the feline equivalent of a fragmentation grenade chucked into a room.

I was just about to post in the Paralympics thread, in the Pro Cycling forum, when my cat jumped on the keyboard and managed to type "weeeeeeeeeeeee," and somehow submit the post! Maybe she's trying to tell me something? But she has a cat flap, and always does that sort of thing outside.
Anyway, cue me franticly pushing the cat off and hitting "Delete"

I've been around cats all my life, but the current one has a habit quite new to me.

He likes to be dragged to and fro across our rough tarmac drive. He's about five years old, but this is a new 'like'.

He's always liked a good scratch, much like any other cat, but his favourite (how could I possibly know that?) is to lie on one side and be dragged across the tarmac and stone chips by the scruff of his neck.

This sounds cruel, but it makes him purr like an idling two-stroke. He rolls over after a few drags so I can drag him along on the other side.

It's got so silly that if we meet on the drive, he just walks up and flops onto one side.

Is this something I've just failed to appreciate in other cats, or do I need to seriously sort this cat out with some sort of flea treatment?

Has anyone else noticed these odd behaviours, or do we have magic tarmac?

Haven't seen exactly this, but have seen similar.
My wife's ex-neighbour's cat was similar. They have a relaxation reflex whilst still a kitten, such that when grabbed by the neck, they relax all their muscles. This is to allow Mother cat to pick them up by the neck in her mouth and bring them back to safety. Some cats don't loose this reflex until well past kittenhood. This cat loved to be grabbed by the neck and rotated round in a circle on the paved footpath.

Dogs, and I presume Cats also like rolling around and wriggling upside down on rough ground, usually dirt.

I guess you have a combination of a failure to loose the neck grab reflex, linked to the pleasure of a good back/side scratch, possibly linked to a loss of pain reflex when grabbed by the neck.

My cat has a habit of annoying me in the middle of the night.
If she is put out for the night and I leave my bedroom window open (especially in summer) then she comes through it (I live on the first floor of our house above the garage). However, before she actually comes in, she makes loads of noise (scraping of the claws/meowing) which wakes me up.
If my window is closed, then she heads over to my parents bedroom and starts crying. She attempts to get into the parents bedroom but is unable to do as the roof above the bay window is different to the garage's.

She is then stuck on the roof. There have been about 5 times this summer in the middle of the night when I have been outside trying to coax her down and my dad has been trying to grab her from the window.

My cat gets herself in all kinds of trouble. She is also a bit of a slut and has brought 3 of the local Toms back with her when she was first let out (a pale ginger one keeps spraying in our back garden).

We have three very old elderly cats and they still surprise me. Ear wax is a favourite with one of them.
Many years ago I have a cat called Fizzy.
She used to sleep on my bed and at bed time she would walk up and down each side of me, while I was under the duvet, to make sure I was properly tucked in. She would then crawl under to sleep for a while before getting out and sleeping on top if the duvet for the rest of the night.

In the morning I would be woken by Fizzy washing my face and licking out my ears. If I didn't turn over she would shove her muzzle in my ear and purr loudly until I turned over, and she would then wash the rest of my face and clean out my other ear!

I had to lock her out of the bedroom in the end as it was getting on my nerves having her 'mother me'.
