Its not good, but when or if you do switch to another supplier. You could always take the savings made by going with the cheapest supplier over a greener more ethical company, then spend that saving on energy saving measures round your own home.

I have done my bit this year, replaced 14 x 50w downlighters with 6.5w LEDs at a cost of £160 (payback time 2 years) The £160 was part of the savings I made by switching to EDF - a company who were the cheapest but may be not the greenest...
I have very limited knowledge of such matters, but I think* my house is "greened to the max" as it is - even in winter we sit in shorts and t-shirts; it is quite amusing at the local shop when everyone else is in thick jackets and winter boots etc and I wander in in shorts and flip-flops...very refreshing to get out into the cold. TBH our fuel bills are so small compared to our last house which was an old stone cottage with limited insulation and oil-fired heating that I doubt I would notice any increase; I would like to support ethical companies.

I am finding your posts very helpful tho in educating me - thanks.

*I am fairly sure it was rated as B when we bought it so maybe not "to the max" - we had considered solar panels but decided against it.
