From Yahoo:
The comedian, 47, who has only been training for around a month, ... will run about 30 miles a day ... to run more than 1,000 miles in seven weeks to raise cash for Sport Relief.

Is that do-able, or is he seeking an "I'm a celebrity" re-launch?

It's doable, it doesn't have to be fast marathon pace.

He seems to have already had a fairly successful "re-launch" moving from stand-up into movies and TV dramas. Can't say I envy him the runnning though, far too much like hard work if you ask me!

didn't the explorer, Ranulph Fiennes(?) do a similar thing a couple of years ago? He was recovering from a heart attack and was told by his Doc he could it if he kept his heart rate below 120bpm or something like that.

Yeah! Seven marathons in seven consecutive days in seven different parts of the world! Don't think he managed it though, but IIRC he completed several of them.

No chance. If Sir Ranulph couldn't do it then EI isn't likely to be able to. Shouldn't even imagine Bear Grylls could do it. Mind you it might keep him (EI) quiet for a bit. Give him a chance to think of some new jokes for a show .

There's an event here called 10 in 10, where you run run the Windermere marathon 10 times over ten consecutive days. Seems quite popular with quite a few managing to do it.

The Eddie Izzard thing does seem to be a step up from that. I could imagine trying it as four 7.5 miles runs each days with a couple of hours in between, rather than one 30 mile run per day. But still, it's going to hurt.
