Edge 305 - where are the files stored?

I recently completed a ride in France with a bunch of others and logged the ride on my Edge 305.

A mate didn't but would like the saved file so he can add it in to his - how do I fins the relevant file? I am running XP - where should the data be stored please? I have tried looking in Programmes et. but can't find a folder entitled 'Garmin'.

Chris, look for 'Training Centre'.
When you connect your Edge to your computer it should load up the TC automatically

There is a problem with the Edge series and compatibility. It uses two specific file types that are not usable with some software and devices.

Asssumingthat you use Garmin Training Centre then highlight the activity and then "File' and "Export"

This will give you the file in a place you can easily find.

However if your mates are not using the GTC then you will have to find a third party software such as "GPSBabel" o onvert this to a "GPX" file which is more universally acceptable to other software (including web based such as Google Earth)

Ditch TC and use Sporttracks with the Garmin and GPS Babel plugins.

Both www.mapmyride.com and www.motionbased.com will take a file direct from the Edge, or import a Garmin .tcx file, and export it as a .gpx.
