That article is astounding! Gotta love the tabloids eh, lazy "journalism" at it's very finest. There's a good reason I don't read newspapers anymore.

This paper is just trying to drive traffic to its website to generate more advertising money. These "Outrage" articles drive traffic and commentards to their website to have the usual "I hate Cyclists / Motorists are dangerous" words.

not worth reading.

Apropos of nothing very much, but it did bring to mind the famous Tom Nairn saying that "Scotland will never be free until the last Kirk minister is strangled with the last copy of the Sunday Post".

It could be argued that publishing this moronic drivel leads almost directly to abuse and intimidation of legitimate road users. I'd suggest that the people who put this rubbish together get proper jobs; they'll doubtless be too slimey and spineless to face accusations of endangering people through rabble-rousing.

I actually posted on The ABD's facebook page, as they had the article on there, in short, suggesting that Hugh Bladon should resign for being an idiot, and that anything he is quoted as saying is ill informed.

I'm now not allowed to post anymore on their page ^_^

What a poorly written article

Some interesting things in the comments section:

I am fascinated by some of the anti cyclist tirades. They are mostly ill informed and often threaten violence so I think that any sensible person would ignore them. I would like to attempt to put a balanced view across if I may.
I am an HGV driver who often finds myself in a 'cycle rich' environment. I need to be on the lookout all the time for cyclists, there are one or two who may not do the most sensible things and it would be catastrophic for both of us if there was a collision. However this is no more or less than any good competent driver should be doing. Most of my day is being delayed by the sheer density of traffic caused by motor vehicles. This is where my stress levels are challenged. If we are to progress our society we need to reduce vehicular traffic, including lorries. Cyclists play a large part in reducing congestion for which, as a fellow road user, I am very grateful. We also need to look carefully at our supermarket culture but that is a different debate.
