I am fascinated by some of the anti cyclist tirades. They are mostly ill informed and often threaten violence so I think that any sensible person would ignore them. I would like to attempt to put a balanced view across if I may.
I am an HGV driver who often finds myself in a 'cycle rich' environment. I need to be on the lookout all the time for cyclists, there are one or two who may not do the most sensible things and it would be catastrophic for both of us if there was a collision. However this is no more or less than any good competent driver should be doing. Most of my day is being delayed by the sheer density of traffic caused by motor vehicles. This is where my stress levels are challenged. If we are to progress our society we need to reduce vehicular traffic, including lorries. Cyclists play a large part in reducing congestion for which, as a fellow road user, I am very grateful. We also need to look carefully at our supermarket culture but that is a different debate.
