    Hiya,

I've got to be at the Corn Exchange for 9 in the morning on Monday and the most direct route for me is the Union Canal.

But... will it be carnage along there in the morning with people commuting in from the west? I'll be going outwards from the basin end, so figure I'll likely be going against traffic. I've really got no idea at all how much the canal is used by commuters.

I don't really mind going along Colinton Road or Slateford Road, but I would rather avoid rush hour exhaust fumes if possible.

i commuted on this route for a few years, and only took the canal a couple of times. dog walkers, blind corners at the bridges, bampot rude mountain bikers. slateford road is busy, but no big deal.
