As long as I breathe, I attack.
I already have an armoured , rcd cable to the main shed and i would like to run an extension to the second shed, could i use a normal cable run through a garden hose buried in the soil ?
It would only be for running a light and maybe an alarm and would be plugged into the 1st shed socket with a double extension on the end .

I was going to run an insulated extension within PVC pipe shielding to a shed. Plugged into an RCD in the garage. Regs, we'll I'm not moving home.

That's what I am planning to do when my shed is up. The side of the shed will only be 1 metre away from the house wall.

To be fair if it's plugged in it becomes an " appliance" A fixed appliance. However the cost to do it properly and avoid nuisance tripping , or worse, it not operating correctly, really is not worth it.

1.5mm 3 core armour won`t cost much for a few meters. Makes sense to do a proper job. How much are you gonna save. (How much could you lose):stop:

It's quite cheap - I was still going to run it in PVC pipe - about 8=10 metres in all. It will be no-where near where anything that can cut it/damage it.
clearly I would be allowed to run an extension cable out to a shed, so when would that extension cable be classed as permanent wiring ?
When it gets fixed or buried. It's one of the bits that turns a decent spark into a good inspector , knowing where to draw line and apply the regs.

I keep meaning to sort out the power to my dads shed, which is a 3 core 0.75 on a plug top, finished off on a 4 way trailing socket screwed to the timbers in the garage. It isn't fixed its slung on some bent nails in the mortar on the wall. Has been there nearly 40 years !

Yes that's SWA. And the current rating changes dependent on the installation method. For the use detailed in the OP I would be happy with 1.5mm sq c.s.a . The armour requires bonding at one end as minimum if not being used as cpc. Easy enough to gland and terminate
