We have underfloor heating in our shower room, it's fab, works really well, but is not cheap to run, and if you are installing it your self it's a pain in the bottom to fit.
sorry not allowed to fit it yourself. have to be a part p registered electrician.

Don't tell anyone, but I have fitted three of them over the last couple of years. Keep it schtum.

There's nothing more miserable than cold floor tiles in a bathroom; if I had ceramic or clay or stone tiles I would definitely have electric heating, if only to keep the tiles feeling comfortable under foot. I would then heat the bathroom with a conventional water/electric towel rail.

We just use a foam backed vinyl sheet which is warm to walk on: it's waterproof, cheap to replace if you get bored with the colour/ pattern, can be easily lifted and, if it's a timber structure, unlike tiles it doesn't crack through. A plan without fault...
