Your one Cunobelin reminds me...
Years ago, i (slowly) slid into the rear of a static car one icy morning (he's stopped to assist a motorcyclist that;d come off on the same patch of ice). Minor damage, no biggie, we exchanged details, i notified my insurance they could expect a claim.
As expected, when my renewal came up some months later, my no claims had gone and the premium had gone up...ah well.
Maybe 2 YEARS later, i happened across the driver of the car i'd bumped into. We exchanged pleasantries, i remarked on his car..i see you got it fixed then ?
'Yeah, i never bothered claiming, just put a new lens on the rear light'
Me....ohhhhh right.
Off to my brokers at the first opportunity....
'you took my no claims off me'
'thats right sir, you had an accident'
'I know that, but no claim was made'
'Doesnt matter sir, your insurance had to go up because you had an accident, you became a bigger risk'
'I accept that, but you can't take my no claims off me.... you can raise the premium, but you can't take my no claims'
'Oh....errr, errrm, errr, i'll sort it out sir and we'll reimburse your no claims'
'Thankyou'...
Scammers...they tried it on and they'd probably get away with it 70% of the time.
