I use my Icloud email for my business email. Today I tried to log on and I'm getting a pop up asking me for a password for imap.mail.me.com. I have tried all sorts of different passwords and nothing was working. So stupidly, I deleted the account thinking I could set a new one up. Now I have tried to set up a new outlook profile linked to iCloud but appear to have lost a load of key emails and it's not syncing with my iPad and am still getting the pop up.

I've tried all sorts of things suggested by Google but I just can't get past this password needed to access the server.

Any ideas?! Help!!

i agree all the safety options are making signing into sites soo long. i wanted to just join a friendly site that wants so much info just to use. i like spending time outside not in on my pc trying sign in to google or site after site, far too time consuming, password after password so frustrating. i cannot advise but i can feel and agree with your madness!!

Thanks

Spoke to them...it's down to Apple introducing two factor authentication. I don't think I have all my emails unfortunately, but most of them at least I hope

All your emails will still be on the Apple servers and will reappear once you reconnect to your account.
I don't think that's the case for the ones that I saved to sub folders held only on this computer  Lesson in patience learnt! This is one of the reasons I do minimal bike maintenance, frustration gets the better of me!

They should be that's how imap works, it doesn't delete them off the server like pop3 does.
I've reconnected with a 'new' Outlook inbox, and the emails that I had filed onto folders labelled 'This computer only' haven't reappeared (nor the folders themselves). The .OST file for the original outlook account has gone since I deleted it (well I can't find it anywhere)

None default folders you need to set to subscribe / sync in settings. If you're not doing that your not really taking advantage of I map and ability for it to sync across all your devices as well as the email server.

I've no idea what that means  I just use iCloud for my business email through Outlook. Those were just subfolders of the inbox or so I thought
