It's a tool.

As much as it's nice to have a trusty hammer I don't cry when it breaks.
That reminds me.... some workmen took my granddad's hammer a few years ago. I don't think they meant to and they might not have, but it disappeared when they were doing some work. I have my own trusty hammer which does exactly the same job, but it's not that same as using granddad's hammer

I have been known to talk to my bike. I sometimes praise her after a particularly hard climb. And when she's broken and needs repairing, I feel sad and it feels like something isn't quite right with the world. We've been through so much together.

I often talk to my road bike when i`m out, but only when solo ;). It`s usually "come on babe, get me home" or "good girl" :shy:.

We where talking about this last week, i have just got a new bike and not sure what to do with the old one, so many good memories over the years, it still looks like new. Thought about turning into a single speed but is a bit to good for a pub bike, I have decided to keep it and hopefully in a couple of years time it will fit my grandaughter, and i am hoping we can do a few rides together. Never ever thought i would get sentimental over a bike.

After close to 30K together he talks and I talk back, of course.

Is that better or worse than talking to oneself in one's head for hours on end?

Hmm, am I mental? 4.5hrs on a bike not talking to anyone doesn't phase me anymore. I used to need podcasts to occupy my mind.
