Had my first ever puncture with Marathon Plus tyres on Saturday. A really narrow-diameter nail, about 2cm long and very sharp.

Ah well, one puncture in 3,360 miles ain't too bad!

That's good milage, out here I'm averaging 1 puncture every 500 Kms but I'm not using Marathon tyres though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I reported last month - I had one with a Marathon plus as well - a real shock to the system as it was the first this summer - before the marathon plus tyre I could get one or two every ride.. ( cycle path along A127 is very bad for glass etc)

... but they are supposed to be bullet proof.
They can stop anything up to the thickness of the shielding:

Which is probably 99% of all puncture-causing debris out there, but nothing can manage 100% (unless you want solid tyres ...).

I imagine so, but I rarely cycle through South London after dark.
.22's and magnums aren't so popular in south London now. It's all about knifes, it is much more personal

I had my first one for ages on my Marathon (without the plus) tyres - a week ago and I reckon that they had done about 3500 miles since the previous one. And the tread was gone on the tyre, so I replaced it - it had done about 6200 miles as a rear tyre and only had 2 punctures in 2 and a half years.
