Endomondo on Android

I just hope they have made the GPS more reliable - I frequently have to edit my workout afterwards, as it often drops GPS after only a couple of miles.

Mine is 99% reliable. Is yours a HTC then?

With the update I'm waiting on reports about battery life. It currently works fine as is.

Yes. But the thing is, I often have Strava and Endomondo running at the same time. Strava has the correct data, but Endomondo has dropped GPS along the route.
Endomondo does the same thing when running on its own, so nothing to do with 2 apps requesting GPS at the same time.

I always leave the power saving setting off and I only run Endomondo in non live mode.

With most HTC's stuff once having a metal chassis I also suspected this would become a factor.

Could be wrong but that's more likely to be your phone.

My Desire used to be perfect in regards to GPS, then I flashed it to Cyanogenmod7.1 and GPS drops out now unless I start\stop\start it before setting off which resolves it.

The gps on mine is always pretty good on HTC Desire HD. I quite often run 2 or 3 of Sportypal, Endomondo, Strava at the same time all fine.

If so, why is Strava OK, and Endomondo not, even when running at the same time!

Mine was once all at sea when I went through the Tyne tunnel.

The one other occasion was when it was in a pocket with loads of other gear.
It gets a pocket to itself now and has been fine since.

I just switched from a HTC Desire to Samsung Galaxy S and the gps accuracy is dire!

Not sure it's a bug, as you can choose what fields are displaying in what part of the screen.

Never noticed that. I'd still put it as a buglet, as the default behaviour should be reasonable, but glad to see it's easily fixed. Now I've got a speedo!! (I was thinking of installing and running a 4th or 5th GPS tracker on my phone)

1. Endomondo's low power mode has always been bad. The previous version went totally haywire on my phone: sometimes having me go 75km as I step out the door, sometimes just recording the same GPS point over and over. The current version works fine, but saves no power. Strava uses much less power, so if I want to save power, I'll use Strava only and then download/upload the GPX file.
2. I find GPS in endomondo accurate, except when I am doing something like going for a stroll - shopping or sightseeing. Endomondo records about 1/2 the distance that some other software records. But if I save the GPX file from Endomondo and then upload it again to endomondo (ie the same file), it shows the higher amount.

When I got Pro I immediately realised it is quite pointless.
I'm OK for 10 to 12 hours Endomondo use. So what can I expect from Strava?

I run Strava and Endomondo at the same time, as I understand it no more batter is consumed by using both programs at once.

I'm worse than you, Andrew. I run 3 or 4. I'd noticed that the first 2 I used about the same power, but what was interesting was that when I tried strava and trackme, that they seemed to use about 1/2 the power.

My suspicion (life is too short to test it) is that using either of those - or both - would eke considerably more out of your battery. And you can always export/import from strava to endomondo
