June 2014 I have big plans to take a similar route to yours! Awesome. You sure you can cross into Burma overland and cycle through to Thailand? This was the bit I wasn't too sure on, although I never looked too deeply

Good luck Mark, sure you'll have a blast! In terms of weather conditions you have picked a perfect month to leave for that type of route as if you cycle a fairly average pace whilst still taking time to take a few days or a week off along route you'll only really encounter a bit of the SE Asian monsoon or even not at all depending on how long you take

Good luck Mark, I have cycled a lot of SEA, I would keep a eye open for Problems in Burma, Last time I cycled there 10 years ago now, I had no problems but parts are bandit country and controlled by the bandits (Karen tribe) I just gave then a small (20$) present, I had entered the country from Mae Sak on the Northern Thai border, but left the country 3 weeks later in the South at the 3 Pagodas Pass. when you get towards Malaysia I would recommend you travel down the East side, must nicer route, and more like the real Malaysia, if you do that route there are some nice islands which you can get out to for some R&R also lots of Home stays and cheap hotels, on the West side you will have to contend with busy roads and more expensive rip offs. Also on the East side you can take a ferry over to Singapore save having to join the queue at JB/woodlands

Link no worky for me.

Take care in the Middle East. A gas mask might be a good idea if riding through Syria or if going to Istanbul and through Turkey and into Iran have fun. Visas are very difficult to obtain for Iran.
