Very proud of the boys today, what a performance. The best time for English rugby since 2003, very exciting.

Also very happy for the Saints players, Ashton was awesome, and Courtney Lawes came of age. from 1-22 every player should be proud today though, all gave a great effort.

I played against Courtney Lawes years ago, he played for Northampton school for boys, and he was scary enough then!!

Unfortunately I couldn't see the match out here as the TV system in the bar I use was defective, but from all the written reports I've read the team played very well, let's hope it continues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a quite stunning try. I'd read about it so was quite keen to see it. A great great finish from Ashton and some excellent work by the fowards in turning the ball over. From cert Aussie try to 10 points to England in a matter of seconds; gutting for the Aussies, bliss for England.

I was there - magnificent game. Bit hungover now though...

It was interesting to read that GPS is now being worn by all the England team, to enable conditioning and performance teams to evaluate each player. Substitutions are made after 'real-time' assessment of a player's 'dip' in performance, and coaching teams can review data to determine when a player is truly 'spent' on the field of play. Bradford Bulls were testing this in rugby league, in January but I wasn't aware of the system being in mainstream use - but apparently there are a few English R.U. clubs using this now. All the usual stuff is transmitted - distance covered, speed, how much a player wanders around skiving , and impact data ie: going from a 20mph sprint to 0mph in a tackle...
No hiding place! Once upon a time, the likes of Fran Cotton and Colin smart could have secreted the GPS in the folds of their 'bodywork'...or probably eaten them!

Don't like the new shirts, though! Preferred the all white strip!
They still have the all white strip, they just decided to play in the away kit, for some reason. Probably to drum up some sales.

No, I mean the ALL white shirts, not with the red piping.

Plus I mean proper shirts, not those cellophane ones! Although I do realise it is all about £££s!
Ahh ok, say no more. I like the tight shirts, i wear a Saints one to every match, it seems to be the slightly portly gentlemen who don't like them ;)

Apparently it was decided to ditch the white shirts as they made it more obvious who were infringing at breakdowns. With the grey tops, it's less obvious.

Attention to detail - cool.

As they say, on these fine threads...

(Pun intended)

Cracking game great try. (It was just a highly illeagal turnover that won us the ball)
Oh well

Hmmm there was an issue of holding onto the Aussie player, but it was a ruck that had been formed, and both sides were cynical in the rucks.

The Aussies were very lucky to get away without a yellow when Ashton was tackled just short of the line.

Thats Rugby though, sides play to the limit of what they can get away with, thats how a team becomes successful.

It was a stone wall PK to Aussie, Palmer and Flood failed to release. (Before the ruck had formed)
