Ah sod that, stick with the brave new world, it's only 3 games old, lets not put the brakes on yet. I'd give them the rest of this year to not worry hugely about results and focus on the performance instead.
I'm a big Exeter Chiefs fan and it's always great hearing Rob Baxter, the head coach, talk more about the performance and attitude of the players than the results, because he knows one leads to the other.

That doesn't excuse a game plan or selection that's wrong, but those things seem to be coming together(some selection tweaks aside), we just need the players to click a little more and can't expect that to happen too quickly.

Im not suggesting that they abandon the brave new world - the top/middle order need to carry on doing what they are doing - in fact if they are going to get any better at it they need to fail just so they learn how to do it better - the likes of Arron Finch didnt wake up one morning the destroyer of bowlng attacks he is without a bit of trial and error - but there has to be an intelligent approach - small things make the difference between success and failure - 20 or thirty runs might have made the difference between todays match being a must win and going for the series

I do see where you're coming from, just worry it's a slippery slope to be talking about the so called 'batting sensibly' so soon after breaking the shackles of it. Certainly there's an element of maturity and making good game decisions that will come and that likely will lead to a better understanding of when to go for it and when not to.
We'll see what happens with today's selection, the Overton brothers have an impressive record when batting together at the tail of a Somerset innings! Jamie's the quicker bowler but been more expensive, but will be interesting to see if Craig has the pace for the top level considering some of the criticism of how well 'medium pacers' can do in County cricket. (he is quicker than medium though...)

A lot of big hits by the tail ensured that England will have to be on their game today, big hits with good running between the wickets from the off, virtually. Should be interesting.

yup - the thing is with the top order having relative control they were wickets in hand when the lower order got there - plus Elliot was there to provide a bit of stability - so they were able to push on to well beyond the 300 mark

231/2 and only needing 5.5/over. Looking good so far, see if they can see it through. 3 of the top 40 getting 50's is pretty impressive.
