no idea ^_^ - but as a secondary question is who is picking the squad - There is a selection panel/committee who as far as Im aware were not sacked when Moores got his - I find it very difficult to believe that this squad was picked by the same committee that sent this team to the world cup
ENGLAND
Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Eoin Morgan (capt), Joe Root, James Taylor, James Tredwell, Chris Woakes.

Not really sure what the situation with selectors is, can't actually find a list of currents but I see James Whitaker was expected to lose his post when Strauss came in. If he's not directly involved I wouldn't be surprised if Strauss has had a word anyway. Farbrace will have input instead of Moore's and I would think Strauss, Farbrace and Morgan discussed the kind of cricket they want to play and got the other selectors to work on that basis.

With people like Buttler, Stokes & Root involved in this it might rub off on the test team as well. Might work like the appointment of Darrne Lehmann with the Aussies, he made a quick impact from the awkward joke they had become.

Good wannit?
It was. Amazing. I didn't think they had a hope in hell of reaching 350, especially on a softening pitch with the light fading and the evening creeping in, but they ended up with 6 overs to spare. And again, a game played in the right spirit, by both teams. Always good when the last match of a series is a decider...

That analysis of the World Cup squad and who's now not in the ODI squad is quite an eye-opener. Interesting that a lot of those dropped are stalwarts of the test side. As we've discussed here already, ODIs seem to be becoming an extension of T20, not a contraction of test cricket. Perhaps for all but a few (Root, Buttler) the skillset/mindset suited to test cricket is just too big a jump now to ODIs?

Apparently, the kiwis congratulated Morgan at the end of his innings, as he walked off. Forgive me, but I'm not sure the Aussies would do that.

But yes, the spirit that all of these matches have been played in is refreshing, to say the least.

So you subscribe to the conspiracy theory ^_^

That counts as a conspiracy? So far, the only people who can actually grumble about anything Strauss has done are the KP supporters. Personally I'm fine with how Strauss has handled KP, others (Graves in particular) not so. He's got great talent but is a nobber (with some particularly nobber mates) and I don't think the 4/5 slot is an area of difficulty at the moment anyway.

Aside from that Strauss has made what even before the ODIs started sounded like a positive change with the coaching and must be a part of the freedom provided to Farbrace and Morgan to change the game plan.
I wasn't Strauss' biggest fan as captain, though I respect that some of the players thought he was good at it, so far though I find it difficult to complain about his new job, though time will tell.

Not sure about some of the current Aussies, but certainly some from recent times would've.

It is Saturday it is Chester Le Street 5th ODI – All square at two each – England win toss and will bowl - Weather forecast seems to indicate that the match could be rain affected – be a shame if it ends up shortened or decided by the dreaded DL

Buttler has a hand Injury and could be replaced by Bairstow otherwise the team is the same

A fantastic performance by England in the last match – Once Hales and Roy got it going there was not much doubt in my mind that England could do it – A brilliant century by Root was overshadowed by Morgan – won easily by 5 overs chasing a target of 350!

So the question is are the Kiwis really just an ordinary side after all? – or are England potentially a very good side who could go on to world domination – I thought the bowling on both sides was a bit ordinary – but there was nothing in the pitch or the air for the bowlers so it was difficult to judge – The Kiwis certainly missed the control and wicket taking qualities of Boult – Finn bowled relatively well and Wood is showing that he has what it takes to bowl at this level

My thoughts on your question run along the lines that NZ are a good side, but England have been given a massive boot up the arse and are proving that they're better. That said, I think both the Test and ODI series have almost been a bit of a loosener/debrief/have fun chaps, after the World Cup and the real indication of where England are at will come in a few months time...

Anyway, it's served up some properly entertaining cricket and I'm looking forward to today, though I reckon it will be knackered by the weather. The washing I hung out earlier is going through another soak cycle...

Botham and Gower are having a moan about the fact that the boundaries are brought in from the advertising hoardings by quite a bit. "Not a fair contest between bat and ball etc etc".

Is it not mainly as a result of the way fielding has become much more dynamic these days? Fielders go flying at a ball heading to the boundary these days, you can't have them crashing into the hoardings can you? Sure it has the effect of making boundaries easier but I suspect the driver is the health of the fielders
