Hi,
We've had a new guy joining the team at work and he's from Bangladesh. He been very a quiet person ,and has said he feels a little out of place amongst the native welsh workers.Because of this we've made a big effort in welcoming into our work place and to help him settle in.
As its happened he,s really enjoying his job and I would say he is one of the most hardest working individuals in ever met. I can't believe just how grateful he is about having a job , and gaining some new friends at work. At the start and end of the day he will come over and shake my hand and say thank you. I,ve lost count the times I've said there's no need for this ,but it just falls on deaf ears.
It's also really fascinating to listen to him ,when he talks about his home country and his religious beliefs. Some of the hardships he's had to endure through poverty is a real eye opener ,and what we take for granted in life is what he sees as a luxury. He loves his cooking and everyday without fail he brings us some traditional Bangladesh cuisine in for us to try. It so different to what we would perceive your typical cuisine from a Bangladesh restaurant in the uk.
Tomorrow he,s bringing something else in for us to try and we're really looking forward to it.
It's always good to take the time and get to know someone ,who has come from another country to live here. You can learn so much talking to them about there life style, religious beliefs and there home country. It makes a mundane week at work so much more interesting. :-) :-)

Excellent. To me this is quintisential Britishness, welcoming and embracing other cultures. I've spent most of my working life working with people from all sorts of places, and you're right, its an eye opener. Currently I work with a lot of people from all over the Arabic parts of the world (Syria, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon etc). In my experience they are the kindest, most generous people I've ever had the pleasure to meet.
