I've just had an article accepted by a well known cycling magazine..... and I'm going to be paid a nice juicy fee for it!!!!

I've had a couple of plays produced on stage and a radio play recorded by a couple of local amateur production companies but until now payment has alluded me.......................... (not bad for a bloke who sells car bits for a living)

I can see the future................. and it is a nice set of shiny Fulcrum 7's fitted to my bike as soon as the cheque arrives. (Normally Me and Mrs V discuss large purchases but I told her in this case that it ain't happening and if she has a problem with it.... she can write her own article......)

Sorry if this thread seems self indulgent and smug.... it was meant to be:tongue:

Can I ask how you got the gig?
Did they approach you?
Did you submit stuff to them unsolicited?

I once had writing rejected by a publication who used it about a year later, so since then I've always been a bit chicken to bother again.

They've got a feature now on the back inside page 'Your Turn' which they accept unsolicited stuff for, so far all the articles have been from what they describe in the 'blurb' as 'Freelance' writers I think I'm the first to not fit this description.... I'm wondering if I can solicit any more freelance work from them? Product reviews etc..... after all I do now have the editors direct email address:whistle: and they know my style well and must quite like it... I'm on the letters page this month (not star letter) and have a wardrobe of Lycra, jackets and a very nice pair of sunglasses courtesy of several Star letters last year
