Equal pay claims may force NEC sale

I was shocked to hear that Birmingham City Council may be force to sell some of its assets including the NEC to fund equal pay claims from thousands of workers. I can't really think of any private companies who would want the upkeep and responsability of any of the assets other than to flatten them for exective houses or turning them into a casinos.

Why on earth not? Earls Court has been doing the same thing for 80 years and has always been in private hands.
