Both sides of the cycle / pedestrian lanes were closed today, and no-one was working. Decided to cross the barriers and cycle across, do they want us to cycle on the road. Transport Scotland and Sustrans have been notified, its going to be a big detour if it ongoing.. Going to send Spencer ( main contractor) an email to find out if they are going to provide a shuttle van/bus .

Heck of a long detour indeed. Please do update the thread when you get any response.

Please don't cycle on that bridge when they close the access, there is loads of work going on there right now and some of the access hatches have been lifted so a cyclist could very quickly become a hazard to themselves and the boys doing the repairs. Also, the access coming from Greenock was closed to all traffic last weekend as some resurfacing work is carried out and this weekend the Old Kilpatrick side access was supposed to be closed for the same reason, but wasn't. I can only assume this was delayed because of the overnight rain. Also, not sure what time you passed, but at around 10am, I was on the bridge and only one cycle/pedestrian lane was closed, with a sign up directing everyone over to the lane on the other side.

The open side has occasion work with the hatches fenced of and the footpath barrier removed to go round . This has been going on for at least two years while the other side is permanently closed for engineering work etc. Was on bridge at about 12.30 pm, no workers anywhere even the compound was closed . Fired off a few emails to complain.

I reckon it might have been during the change over period, as now the opposite lane is open. :okay:

Yes crossed today, another 2 cyclists stuck at the other side yesterday said they would complain. They had electric bikes too heavy to lift over. Bet a few more done the same.
