Why do some riders appear to have nothing with them when they pass me?

Am I taking too much?:

Think I'm like you, I have never weighed my under-seat pack, but I reckon it weighs a fair whack.

Emergency bar
Few quid
GNT Medication
Keys
Mobile phone
Spare batteries.

Bike doesn't half feel zippy without it!
Then there's the mini-pump, water bottle(s), 2 front and 2 rear lights, Carradice sqr bracket, Space-grip, computer and HRM.

GLad I bought a lightweight race bike!!!

I've stopped carrying the multi tool as to me they are not only heavy but not convenient to use in most situations. I now carry a set of allen keys and a small shifter, it's lighter and does almost anything I want when on the road. Perhaps on a long tour I would reconsider but I doubt it!!!!!

I take a similar kit plus keys although the number of bottles and amount of food depends on distance and my Topeak Micro Rocket pump fits in the rear pocket and the multi tool has tyre levers.

Bottle(s) (depending on ride length) - in cages
Spare tube
Tyre levers
couple of allen keys (I agree with the comments inre: weight of multi tools)
phone
id
bit of loose change
food (depending on length of ride)
handkerchief
lightweight rainjacket if the weather looks a bit iffy.

Bottles and pump aside, everything fits into the back pockets of my jersey. If I'm on a long ride with plenty of food and take the waterproof it can be a bit full but it all fits in ok.

For a short (2 -3 hours) I take
1 tube
puncture repair kit
3 tyre levers
mini pump (mount on bottle boss)
1 bottle
phone
food

Then I sometimes take
Arm / leg warmers
Windproof jacket

For longer day rides I might take:
several allen keys
poss chain tool and spare connectors
thin screwdriver
money - to buy extra liquid if neceesary and other emergency stuff

I don't bother with a multitool. My bike seems to be almost exclusively held togther by allen keys and most of them are unlikely to come loose or need adjustment - eg stem bolt, pedals - so I probably wouldn't bother with those sizes anyway! So for a few allen keys the multitool actually works out heavier. I suppose if you include a chain tool and pair of pliers (which I haven't bothered with above) then the multi tool starts looking more attractive.

Nothing wrong with that list.Similar in my saddle bag.Ieven carry some clothing of my two mates as well.Also was up in Hull yesterday visited THE DEEP first time i have seen the Bridge impressive.

I have loads of stuff in my seat bag thing. I have:
Mobile( I have to take that one )
Multi tool
cable ties
P repair kit
Couple of 20p's
Energy bar
Plasters(for those small and annoying cuts)
Anti-septic wipes
And some more stuff that i put in there just in case.

Then i have a drinks bottle, lights on the front and back, and a cag thats between the seat and the seat pack.
I dont carry a pump because depending where i am, i will either go into a petrol station and pump the tyres up, or ring home or just walk home. I do keep meaning to buy a small pump though.
