Im in Larndon tomorrow. I'll be walking the 2 mile journey rather than ride one of those abominations.

even in Liverpool I see them - and the scooters - but I have no idea how you register etc

but that is because I can;t see me using one!
app, innit? No alternative, unlike better systems. All your phone data are belong to them.

Or you just brute-force them and ride with the alarm blaring, as seems popular in London.

not been in print form for some time
Not daily but it does appear in print - I think - weekly. I know because I've picked it up and done the sudoku quite recently.

I have to admit those hire bikes aren't for me. There's not a hole in my life that they fill. I have nothing against them but I've never felt the need to try them.

You are correct, it appears as the London Standard of a Thursday. I'm not often in an out of London much nowadays, and clearly not been in on a Thursday! The Metro is a poor substitute but does have a few sudoku / puzzles to keep you amused.
