we bought a nappy dalek when we had our first child (basically it's a sort of bin you put dirty nappies in and it's supposed to seal them in an airtight pocket). was rubbish, it just produced a sausage of dirty nappies which would unravel and stink when you emptied it.

now that was a bag of shite…

Not really a piece of kit, but something we all pay dearly for; Doctors/GPs, for the vast amounts of money we lavish upon them I would have expected a hell of a lot more in return.

considerably better value than their pre-nhs counterprts but I know what you mean.

I can't remember any specific instances offhand, but yes, I well know the feeling of paying good money for something, hurrying home excitedly with the box tucked under my arm, ripping the packaging open in a state of near-frenzy while giggling insanely, then reaching into the box, pulling out the prized object ... pausing ... blinking ... and then being struck by the inevitable thought, ... "I've bought a piece of shoot".

Sans the box.. I had that exact experience happen once when I bought a new Vauxhall (In this case, badged Chevrolet --same thing).. .. it was a piece of shoot the day it was made.. a piece the day I bought it.. and continued to be, long after I very soon got rid of it....

I was going to say the Turbo trainer but I've just got off it after the first time using it in 2 months, and I can confirm it does deliver...........boredom ;-)

I was stupid enough to buy two turbo trainers.

The first one nearly bored me to death.

The second one was purchased having convinced myself that the original judgement was wrong only to find that I was right first time around.

I reckon I did a total of five hours of turbo training - all but a half hour on the first trainer.

3 and T-Mobile are worse than useless in pockets up here but O2 and Orange are generally fine. Vodaphone tends to be OK just about everywhere too.

My BBlackberry was worse than useless on Virgin, swapped it to 02...problem solved instantly.

Chain bath, used twice and thrown away cos it;
a) didn't clean the chain,
b) was harder work than using a load of GT85 and a rag
c) used gallons of cleaning solvent, at great expence,
d) broke.
