This morning I was cycling on Cycle Superduper highway 2 along whitechapel high st. Spotted a street cleaner sweeping a pile of broken glass from the pavement onto the cycle lane!

Barely believing my eyes, I turned round and returned to the scene, and yes, there was a big pile of broken glass in the road next to this bloke.

I asked him why he'd just done that, pointing out that he pushes a trolley with a great big bin on it that he could've put it in. he said "it's ok, the roadsweeper will pick it up later".

I said "No it won't it'll stay there for months and every cyclist will be swerving around it".

I think an email to Tower Hamlets and Boris might be in order.

It certainly is! (The email bit...)

There's a small bit of cycle path I use which always, without fail, has glass in it. Why this particular little bit, I've no idea.

i picked the allez up over a recycling bin that had been pushed off a bridge and showered the cycle track with broken glass! thanks to the cyclist coming the other way who warned me this morning or id have hit it at 15-20 MPH

I cycled down Cable Street very early one Sunday morning and there was a load of broken glass in the cycle lane. There were also 2 girls leaning out of the window in the flats laughing at every cycling who went through it. :gun:

There's a town i cycle through called Caddishead, i'm currently convinced that the local populace are attempting to replace the road surface with bits of metal wire and glass. its horrific! (and thats just the town)

I agree M'fish - I have become convinced that that last bit of cycle path in Cadishead is being deliberately targetted

(I think it's you Cheshire lot who're jealous of our Salford cycle paths)
