Everesting Miles?

I thought it would be interesting to compare Everesting miles across the country.

I'm not refering to one off Everesting attempts, but in the course of your normal riding, how far did you have to ride to achieve Everest height of 29,032 ft?

I have just hit 29,617 ft in 666 miles.

To make comparisons on common basis, pro rata as follows ...

Ytd Miles * 29,031 / your ytd ft

This gives me a result of 652 miles, to achieve the equivalent the height of Everest.

And my riding is in Kent, which doesn't have any mountains, but lots of hills.

380 miles for me. Riding up in the North East and trips to Tenerife and Andalusia this year.

Done more than an Everest every month since April. Will do the mileage ratio check later. Everest being just under 8,849m.

On a pro-rata basis, mine is 710 miles, but that is heavily skewed by my LEJOG attempt, which was way hillier than my typical riding.

I've recently hit my fourth cumulative Everest elevation of the year, with my first taking me 864 miles to complete, my second 764 miles, my third only 445 miles (obviously during LEJOG) and my most recent 775 miles.

That’s depressing. I live in Scotland and am obviously biasing flat routes! . Must try harder.
