So I crashed my bike on Friday morning. I was going about 20mph and went over a patch of diesel or something and lost the bike from underneath me. Ended up sliding into a parked car and managed to buckle the front wheel, bend the front fork and the front brake is at a quite extreme angle too! I came out of it ok - road rash on the thigh and I left a fair amount of elbow on the road, but no lasting injuries.

Took it to the LBS yesterday morning to find out how much it would cost to replace what's broken and it came to £100. I've had it since 2009 and have put a few new drivetrains on it in that time, so i decided that it was time for a new bike. I coerced the salesman into selling me a Bianchi Impulso Veloce, which I'm going to pick up next weekend. Probably wont be able to ride it for a couple of weeks after getting it, so it will spend its first few days looking pretty in my house. ^_^

that is one sexy looking bike, I'm glad you are ok apart from the road rash and hope you get on the new bike ASAP

I also have always wanted a Bianchi! Just love the Celeste blue!!! have fun...good luck with the recovery.
If you need someone to take it out a few times while you recover, just give me a shout

That looks like every other compact frame, integrated headset, compact drivetrain Stepford Bike, only badged in a celeste colour scheme.
Is it possible to get these identikit bikes unbranded, to save a few hundred quid?
That sure seems to be the case. A friend of mine built a full carbon bike with 105 groupset for about £1200 4 or 5 years ago
and I know there are plenty of manufacturers are selling higher end bikes for a similar price.

haha, cheers for the offer, I'm looking forward to christening it myself though I'm afraid!

??? I did almost the exact same crash about 6-8 weeks ago. same speed too. Both elbows, right knee and thigh copped for it but still managed to continue to work, and home again after a days work. Then cycle commuted the next day, and the next!

Get back on your bike you soft sod!

I'm a southerner, what else would you expect? ;) a couple of weeks was an overestimation though.

Cheers Snorri, looking forward to riding those miles

Well thankfully you sound like you are doing OK.

I think it's a wise idea to get a new bike after that -you don't know the real state of the frame once that kind of thing happens!
