Part of my commute tales me along a shared bus and cycle lane. I came over the top of a hill riding faster than the crawling traffic but not too fast. A tanker driver saw me coming and indicated very early to let me know he was turning left across the bus lane into a petrol station forecourt. I had no chance of getting past him safely before he turned left so was greatful for the advanced warning. I slowed down to match the traffic speed and the tanker moved to the right slightly while indicating left to start the sharp turn into the forecourt. The car behind decided to try and undertake the lorry as it made the slight move to the right. Before the car can complete the lane change and undertake the lorry cab is turning left across the lane towards the bit of road the car was aiming at and the car has to hit the anchors. It makes you wonder what on earth they were trying to gain. When the cab pointed the right slightly the driver would have had a blind spot to the left the length of the trailer. At least they didn't knock me off in the process
. It was one of those moments I wish I still used my old handlebar camera.
