On the sufferfest site there is a great thread full of torture chambers to give you some inspiration and ideas!

In between here and there
Strange thing I have found is that a Gym step machine replicates a ride the closest. No real sub for road biking

Really, that's a thought. Good on the calfs for sure and I suppose the thighs pushing downwards. Will give that a try.

That looks good. presumably it's not possible to have one of these fall off the stand. I could imagine me going through the front windows.

This definately looks like the way forward for me. That's a big Beer fridge!

Oaf on a Bike
I bought a York one 3 years ago, rated to about 21 stone i think, very solid frame on the thing was about £200 though. I got quite into it and because theyre quiet (magnetic resistance) Id cycle while watching a tv programme most evenings for months. I tried it this week after not using it for 2 years, since real cycling really and im so much faster on it, but i get bored very quickly and the saddle is enormous. Reminds me though, its got a saddle clamp, i was going to put a spare bike saddle on it and see if that helps.

I like to think it kickstarted me a bit, I got a good amount of use out of it then replaced it with running after id lost some weight, then got into cycling too.

Am really getting on with the Turbo. Thanks for the advice. Only strange thing is not having the wind to dry the sweat. Will sort out a fan soon I think.
