My work pays 20p / mile for work-related mileage by bike but nothing if you have a C2W bike, which I do.

Why is that? I know you're effectively hiring the bike but the wear & tear, repairs and servicing are all at your cost, which is what the expenses are for, no?

Hillarious. Only the Daily Wail could get into fits of rage over expense bills in the region of £6 - £205!

MPs are entitled to claim cycling mileage like anybody else. What a non-story.

As ever with the Daily Mail, the final paragraphs hold the truth.

So MPs made a mistake by claiming cycle mileage instead of car mileage. Hence allowing MPs to claim bike mileage is reducing their expenses claim due to admin errors. Which is a good thing? Good job that a newspaper has pointed out to them the error of their ways and forced them to claim more than they were already doing so.

I've ridden home from my placement many times, a distance of 50 miles. I'd like to know where I'm supposed to replenish those 2,500 odd calories for free.
