^^^ what he said - I managed to get away with using epoxy glue for a while but ended up buying one of hte BB mentioned.

You really should have someone take a good look at the BB threads - do you trust the bike shope?

indeed. that LBS has form too. I was tempted to get a no 1 and have a word with 'em but it was too far to cycle. Cyclescheme customers are cash cows in some parts it seems. If they weren't meant to be fleeced then God would not have made them sheep. as someone once said.

Took the option to have better BB fitted, rather than to order the same thing in.

never a bad idea ime

Also I was given the option to change it from a triple to a compact, which I did as I like mine, and Mrs A never uses many of her gears. this in turn has then added the cost of a front mech fitted so that the gearing is still set up right. Plus normal chain (worn out) brakes and cables.
suspect thats the lions share of the costs. Might the two bits in italics be related perhaps. and why didn't you get it converted to SS at the same time and save yourself a fortune?

It goes on a little bit more, but suffice to say that after this, i am buying tools, and a book, and going to DIY, afterall I know my way round a Mountain bike.

A sound plan

AS FOR MY BIKE, flew through its servce, got on it today to find the chain slipping, as the rear cassette wasn't changed, and then the chain snapped within 1 mile. NOT HAPPY. CALL TO LBS TOMORROW!!!!!!

No no no. That would be your fault. You can only criticise Halfords remember. Poor impoverished LBS's everywhere give cheap and platinum grade service to every one of their customers and anyone who does not agree clearly is a social deviant or rides an ali frame.
