The seat-post comment wasn't suppose to put anyone off selecting a CAAD.
I love my CAAD 9 (also run a fair bit of seat post as I'm 6'2").

Ashy, you say your happy with the Allez, but don't want a Specialized. Isn't it worth a ride on a Tarmac, as I understand it's the same Geometry as the Allez but Carbon. I'd prefer to have a major brand bike that fitted that an exotic that didn't.

Having looked at the prices of the Tarmac I have eliminated them from my pursuel of a Carbon dream machine!!. Watch this space and I will post a list of the contenders.

Apologies for the lack of updates. Been busy at work and home.

The purchase of my new bike was put on hold for these last few months. I have made the brave and bold decision of getting rid of my car before getting a second road bike. I have now sold this and we are a one car family - I will be commuting to work on two wheels, with limited leg power! I can now resume my quest of getting a second 'best bike.'

Choices so far (and not limited to further additions) are:

Focus Cayo 1.0 (SRAM) or 2.0 (Ultegra)
Cube GTC Agree Race
Kuota Kharma
Trek Madone 3.1 / 3.5 or 4.7 (budget allowing!)
Cannondale Supersix 105 (liquigas)
Wilier Izoard XP (have you seen the picture on this thread - nice)

Too many choices and my head hurts!

Experts, you know who you are.

I am looking into purchasing a second road bike. I am looking at Carbon, although I am happy to look at Alu / Carbon bikes. In the region of £1500 gave or take a few quid. Ideally my second stead will be perfect for Sportives, Sprint & Olympic Tri's and of course the long summer rides (it may or may not make an appearance in the rain!!!)

At present I am comparing contrasting the Focus Cayo 2.0 against the Cube agree GTC Race. However, I am open to 'expert' advice and guidance to other makes / models. Presently I ride a Spec Allez Sport, which I love but want something different from Specialized.
Planet X have some great offers on right now.

Well I am certainly no expert but I recently bought a bike and had a similar budget. I went for the Jamis Xenith Comp from Evans. Nice carbon frame with 105 (mainly) reduced to £1,200. I then ordered a pair of Ultegra 6700 wheels from Merlin as an upgrade to the Mavic CXP22 wheels that came on the bike bringing the total to about £1,500.
