The amount quoted seems awfully small, and as the expert chappy says, they wouldn't classify that as a positive. I don't buy the 'it blew in with the wind' theory though. My hunch is that he was offered some and dipped a finger tip but thought better of piling in nose first. Kind of suggests that he's still keeping dodgy company even if he's keeping his nose clean (so to speak)...

This is rather on the level of 'I didn't inhale' or 'I did not have sexual intercourse with that women' though, isn't it?

...except that the second hand coke theory isn't coming from Tom himself. It's being floated as a possibility by the chap who did the testing.

Ah. I've been reading a different account.

Both experts found traces of the drug in the hair samples of Boonen, a three-time Paris-Roubaix winner, but said that they were only very small amounts.
Kintz found 0,09 ng/mg, while "we speak of a positive result when it exceeds 0.5 nanogrammes per milligramme. One thing is certain: he was exposed to very small quantities and is not a chronic user," he said. Kintz concluded that the Belgian sprinter might not have actually snorted the drug, but that his contact with the substance could have been coincidental – by a contaminated drink, a handshake or particles of cocaine in the air.

Yenners, I've had such a sheltered life that I have never seen cocaine, or been anywhere close to it, let alone taking it. In fact, I only know one person who has. And they tried it once at a party and didn't like it.

In my experience, it turns people into arrogant, nasty and boorish. It's hard to tell with Boonen, because he seems so much like that anyway...

The former world champion has stated that the day before the test he had had a blackout following a drinking session and could not remember anything more.

Ban him anyway. What sort of example is that to set? We expect our role models to be able to drink shed loads without passing out.
