The queue of TX4's outside waiting to be checked over is quite a sight. As is the rabble of bored (and pissed off) taxi drivers waiting outside on the pavement.

Best thing I saw this morning was a taxi driver parking up and then getting a lovely 70's steel road bike out of the passenger compartment to cycle home on. I waved. He waved.

So they aren't ALL bad...

Not me but I do have a soft spot for steel framed Mercian's

It's not too bad up 'ere in Manchester - Black cabs are fine, it's the private hires you have to watch out for, even in a car...well dodgy - probably not insured etc...both I and a friend (separate instances) were hit by private hire drivers....lost out on our insurances...

Lot's of the driver attitude is typically 'rats in cages' - i.e. too much traffic, going no where...... some fella was beeping me this evening, why, because a silly bint behind me blocked a side road by not paying attention - he wanted me to move right up the arse of the car in front (I was driving)....I didn't move.... , why, cos he had to wait 10 seconds before the lights changed...

do you suppose that there might be something in this "Voodoo" after all?

Are the taxis still there?

Ah London again.......Rats in Cages !

Ha ha :0) Makes you wonder doesn't it? It's a bit like shopping centres, people assume that the biggest must be the best and flock to them like flies to a dog crap.

The 'fire in the cab' was just a failed experiment by Boris to see if the Olympic Torch could be carried safely without fear of attack from protesters. They'll have to think of summat else

mines fine too thank you for asking Logan, yes i have a 56 reg as well

i''ll tell you what Logan ,this works both ways........

may i suggest you get your following commuting buddies to stop behaving like ars&holes and obey traffic lights;) because when one has a green light heading north up Grosvenor place and proceeds to cross Hyde Park corner and then all of a sudden a cyclist from another direction(duke of wellington place) jumps a red light and straight into my path, you get my adrift ????????;)

They're still burning by the way:evil:

My point is not that some cyclists ride badly in the same way some taxi drivers do but that taxi drivers IMO seem to deliberately target cyclists in the form of buzzed close passes, cut ups, swerves, blocking cycle paths, hooting get out of my way gestures and general unpleasantness out their in the war zone.

A poor cyclist doesn't go out of his way to make life for taxi drivers difficult but I'm afraid taxi drivers are doing just that to cyclists. Their bad driving around cyclists is not random but deliberate. it has nothing to do with cyclists RLJ and all the other things they do - which taxis do too by the way.

This deliberately targeted driving towards cyclists indicates that it's being done as punishment of cyclists in general and not even specifically targeted at a lone cyclist for a perceived misdemeanour (which is bad enough for a taxi to use his vehicle as a weapon in this regard). It's punishment driving and not random accidental incidents which by pure coincidence involve cyclists.

That doesn't match my experience of taxi drivers. Sure, they can be very gobby, but then so am I, after years of verbals with motons. For the most part I find them better than the average moton, but still human.

Yes indeed Logan SOME taxi driver's undoubtably are making life difficult for cyclists, just as some company car, van, lorry driver's etc are. A deliberate targeting of cyclists is I am afriad just bizzare and paranoid thinking. I know it can be a mad house down there, but not everyone is out to get you, or are they...
