Interesting article from the BBC about 'extreme commutes' of around 6 hours per day etc.

What surprised me most was the reliance on cars, you would think for those distances people would be mostly using trains or planes.

But, as one of them points out, it's probably cheaper by car...

I used to commute 4 hours a day and quite frankly it nearly did me in.........live above the shop would be my advice
Too close for many people, unless you are very disciplined - and it just about limits you to self-employment. The ideal IMO is a five or ten minute walk.

When I lived in the US, such commutes were quite common.
I knew a guy at the stock exchange in London who commuted from the Isle of Wight most days.

Disappointing, Zimmers! I thought this was going to be about people who wrestled crocodiles and swam through piranha-infested waters on their way to the office, and it's just about people who do stupid amounts of dull driving!

Where I work now is the longest I have ever had to travel, it is only a 30 minute commute each way though.

When I was at College in Glasgow we had a tutor who commuted from Fort William each day.
I thought he was mad. Still do!

Also my big Brother commutes between Clydebank and Lochgilphead each day. I think he's mad!!
