f1 renaults main sponsor pulled out immediate effect!!

is this the end of another main player in f1? if so, what happens to alonso? is it a good thing that some larger manufacturers are to leave and allow other non traditional teams in? does this mean ex bmw reserve team will now race next season?

I think that the FIA were right to ban the two leaders of the team but should it stop there. Alonso also must have known what was going on or he would not have gone out with such a low fuel load from the start, so in my opinion him and Piquet (sp) are both just as guilty. However what frightens me even more is that Alonso is considering starting a cycling team and I don't agree that a man like this is worthy of running a cycling team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what i think is unfair is the fact that massa cannot appeal about losing the championship because of the affected result. whilst i like having a british champion, i would rather it go to the best man without it being tainted.

i'm not sure alonso would have known. if he knew then his race team would have known and we would of had a leak to the press before we piquets revelations.

i'm still a bit unsure as to why piquet hasn't had a lifetime ban as well, he put lives at stake. sounds dramatic but i could have gone horribly wrong.

i wonder if renault could sue for the money it cost the company for an unnecessarily trashed car?

as for alonso running a cycling team, mmmm, cycling hasn't exactly been a clean sport has it? is he any different to others currently in the sport?

Piquet should have had the book thrown at him as well. He was the one who actually committed the offence. It's all right saying something like "they told me" but he is a fully grown adult. It's amazing how his principles only caught up with him when Renault fired him. He effectively blackmailed the team into giving him a drive this season IMO. There is no other logical reason why they would employ him after his showing last year. This is sour grapes after they fired him. TBH, this reflects worse on the Piquet family than the Renault team.

The only reason he was granted immunity was because it allowed Mad Max to get rid of Briatore whom he didn't like. They may as well have given Piquet a lifetime ban. Who will employ him? Nobody in F1, that is for sure.

It's all a bit weird. I mean, if someone said to me 'I want you to crash your car into a wall' I'd tell them where to go! Wouldn't you? You could get hurt doing that.

I think F1 is a farce anyway so I'm not bothered about this. I'd quite like to see Button win the title, I think he's a nice guy, and McLaren are my favourite team, but really, F1 is a bit of a pantomime.

Alonso hasn't done anything wrong. It's quite common these days to go out with a low fuel load, especially in a car which isn't as quick as it might be. Besides, Alonso wouldn't have had a lot to do with deciding the strategy.

If memory serves, Ferrari lost that particular race because they sent Massa out with the fuel hose still attached, then spent several minutes looking at Massa's car at the end of the pitlane before deciding to go and see if they could get him on the road again. I don't think Renault had much to do with Massa losing the championship.
