Seb was my 3rd choice winner, after Hamilton and Webber, least it's not Alonso though! Great season, looking forward to the next already

I think that Alonso showed his tosserishness perfectly with his actions towards Petrov in the wind down lap.

Yes ... I could understand him reacting like that in sheer frustration in the heat of the moment, but it would have been nice to hear him apologise in the post race interview.

I thought the race was good. I didn't think over the season Alonso actually quite deserved to win it at all (a lot of mediocre performances or gifted victories even discounting the Massa one). So I was pleased for formula 1 that someone other than him was champion. He's a good driver and he'll probably have other opportunities perhaps unlike Webber, but who knows. I thought it was hilarious on the grid where Vettel was the only one of the championship contenders to give an interview because Martin Brundle and Eddie Jordan were stood either side of him and they knew he'd stop talking to his engineer at some point!

I'm kind of pleased that next season in true F1 style sees yet another u-turn and KERS is back. I'd hope it'd help slightly, the last few races have really got bogged down in traffic (although you expect it for a championship showdown).

vettel deserves it, ten pole positions is almost sennaesque. i would have liked webber to win, but vettel performed when it mattered most…

I actually thought Vettel should have got more than 10 poles, he had that phase in the first half the season where he lost the plot a bit and Webber was getting a few. I don't disagree he's a better qualifier than say Alonso or Webber and in some small part deserves to win this year's title especially when you combine it with 5 victories. Sort of glad he did do it this year as he really messed up last year, but he's young, he's only had 3 full seasons for formula one and it's usually 3-5 years in the drivers mature a bit so some people would say it's a bit harsh but I think the talent is there.

IMO if a driver gets so many poles and fails to turn them into wins, thats poor driving. Webber deserved the title this year, that may be slightly biased though.

Another view is that Adrian Newey tends to builds cars that are good at qualifying...

I agree. I think Webber was consistently better on race day (with fewer silly mistakes) than Vettel. But Vettel's a deserving champion. Now let's see if he can defend it convincingly.

I was impressed by Webber, I think his strong performances this year added to the enjoyment of the season. At mutterings of him being past it or getting there I think it was also good for him really. At least he has at least one more season at red bull to see what else he can get accomplished.

Agree with that, and I'd add that it was excellent (IMO) seeing the past 2 year's champions on the podium with Vettel today. Although Hamilton hasn't really repeated the runaway success of his first two seasons, it was an answer of sorts to those who wrote him and Button off for being lucky when they won the championship.

It's slightly depressing for me, though, I mean Vettel is only 23. When I was 23 I think my finest achievement was drinking nine pints of Guinness in an hour. In fact, I think it still is.

Fangio was 40 midway through the championship of his first title (and he was younger than Farina!). Things have changed a bit since then .

A great season, can't wait for next year. I hope they replace either Coulthard or Eddie Jordan on the commentary team though: it's becoming embarrassing watching their antagonism towards each other.
