Praise the lawwwwd - I finally went and did it, i've deactivated my facebook profile and requested the whole lot be deleted.

I've become sick of how everything socially centres around that site and it's just full of passive aggressive vaguebooking and racist bigotry. Like having a window into the mind of all my friends and realising that some of them are pretty batshit crazy.

Anyone else made the jump?

I'm ahead of the curve - i've never had an account!

I very briefly opened an account to see someone's pictures and deleted it a few weeks later. I never really got it and don't really want it.

Life is too short for any of that crap. What's wrong with the pub? at least then you have the excuse of being intoxicated for your banal chat.

I never really got Facebook either and soon deleted everything after a month or so. I like being completely 'un Googleable' which is what I am now, after deleting Facebook as well as getting taken off that 192 thing which, I was horrified to discover, carries a hell of a lot of personal info too - (well worth checking and getting taken off it).

I just have family and a couple of good friends on mine and use it as a way of keeping up with relations spread across the country.

I've only ever maintained an account so I can occasionally get access to material on there.

They've now even stopped whingeing about my minimalist use of it.

Huge security and privacy risks involved with having your private affairs on there.

Good on you mate  Its this Twitter thing i dont understand if anyone cares to elaborate ?

OK for following a cause or person you support. I use it to track comedians or bands I want to see. Some don't live up to expectations, for example, I thought Danny Baker may have some amusing comments on affairs of the world, but mostly he tweets unendingly about football whilst drunk.

Twitter must be used as a passive medium, unless you are a popular wit or insightful observer, don't tweet, nobody is interested in the contents of your fridge.
